I was recently introduced to a very informative site called The Online Mom.
Being the mom of three teenage sons that are into online gaming, video games, texting and more; I quickly pulled up my chair and started reading. I am concerned about the sites they visit and the people they talk to on the Internet. I also wondered how long is too long for a child to be playing on the Internet? Another worry of mine is online predators (thanks to Dateline). One article that was of interest to me was this article on Safety Vs. Privacy

My favorite section of the site is the Ask the Online Mom Section. If you have a question about how video game usage or too much texting is affecting your child you can send a message to the Online Mom. All questions will be treated as confidential. A link to the Online Mom's Facebook page: Facebook Page, were they are having a Facebook fan giveaway, which is already underway and running through Monday, September 21st. They are going to give away a Nintendo Wii game system and some other prizes to fans who complete various fan challenges over the contest period. Fan challenges will be announced via status updates, so fans will have to keep an eye on their home page newsfeed or check back on the page regularly for info.
